  WHAT HAPPENED?

  The English sides will head Stateside to begin preparations for the 2024-25 season, reports. As well as playing a friendly against each other in Washington D.C, the London clubs will take on NWSL teams as part of their tours.

  THE BIGGER PICTURE

  The report says that Arsenal will take on Washington Spirit in an August friendly, while WSL champions Chelsea will play the new NWSL winners NJ/NY Gotham FC. Not only is this the first such high-profile tour for the two WSL sides, it will also be the first time English women's teams will take on their American counterparts.

  Chelsea and Arsenal will be hoping to take full advantage of their pre-season preparations. The Blues are preparing for their first season without legendary manager Emma Hayes, who has left to take over the USWNT.
